Social Deduction Games

I think that social deduction games are the most fun when there is some sort of "life or death situation". Games like "Among Us" and "Werewolves By Night" where if someone is caught or not caught then they "die" and cannot participate in helping the rest of the players. There is also a "life or death" situation for the players to catch the liar as well. If they do not catch the werewolves or impostors then they die. It makes the game more high stakes, so I think that is the route I would go.

Given the fact that it is currently spooky season, I think that I would want to make a game with that theme. I would do maybe something like the Salem Witch Trials, except instead of finding the witch, you have to find the witch hunter. All of the players are witches, but one person is pretending to be a witch so they can hunt the real ones. You have a series of spells that each witch knows, and you must prove your knowledge of the spells and convince the other witches that you are a real one. Then after each round, the witches will converse and decide who they think is the hunter. After they kill who they think is the hunter, it will be revealed if they killed the correct person. If they didn't, then they will continue to play until they either kill the hunter or the hunter successfully lives to be one of the two players left.

I think that this theme would be really fun for spooky season. It also is fun because the players are the witches instead of hunting them. I think that the "life or death" aspect of the game can add a fun stressor that if you play into it enough could be really fun in itself. I like games like these where you could get really into character and make the game more than just a mystery game. Hopefully, the theme being added to the game could help with that.
